Just AI Team Launches First Women in Voice Chapter in Russia
In January 2021, Women in Voice an international non-profit organization built to empower and connect women in Voice Technology launched its chapter in Russia. Just AI is proud to announce that our COO Yulia Pivovarova gathered a group of VUI long-term enthusiasts to found the first WiV chapter in Eastern Europe. The main ambition of WiV Russia is to bring together talented women who influence the future of conversational AI and voice technologies and create an effective platform for networking.
“I’ve been following Women in Voice since its foundation in 2018, and always admired the groundbreaking work they do. Now, as a leader who’s been always choosing people over processes, I’m thrilled to be launching Women in Voice Russia. This is the first WiV chapter in Eastern Europe, that will bring together the brightest females of the young and vibrant Russia’s voice tech industry,” Yulia Pivovarova says.
Women in Voice was launched in August 2018 by Dr. Joan Palmiter Bajorek, the Head of Conversational Research and Strategy at the Melbourne-headquartered digital voice agency VERSA. Today, Women in Voice has more than 2.500 followers on Twitter, over 900 followers on LinkedIn, almost 500 members in our slack community, and a growing number of chapters around the world. Among its goals are building a community for women and diverse people in voice technology, amplifying and celebrating the work and talent of women, providing professional development and resources to support women, as well as empowering women in all the different roles that comprise the voice field.
Just AI is excited to be part of this global movement! Global statistics say that worldwide, women make up only 22% of specialists in the AI field and less than 14% of authors of research papers on the topic. Our company is proud to have a more proportionate gender ratio of 40% females to 60% males, including top management.
Russian WiV chapter will host regular events for women in the industry and the first online meet-up will take place on March 23. Dubbed “Building a career in voice tech,” the event will feature stellar speakers from Russia’s voice industry. Guests will discuss the promises and pitfalls of a career path in voice tech and more.
